So I got tagged.
As a matter of principle, I'm not into this stuff. It's too much like chain-letters or damn stupid email chains that perpetuate multiple breeds of ignorance. However, MaKo85 is a hero of mine, and she tagged me, I think, primarily on the basis of our shared love for 2000AD storylines from the 1980s. So I'm making a rare exception and replying:
1. If you could have any story you love turned into a big budget film, what would it be?
My first instinct is that it should be the Sten Chronicles by Chris Bunch and Alan Cole. But this would work better as a big budget TV series, I think. In which case I would start with Inception, by the late and deeply, deeply missed Iain M Banks.
2. Who would be your celebrity hubby/waifu of your dreams?
There is no better wife than the one I already have.
3. You can pick one element (literally anything) to be made from or change into, what is it?
The element of surprise.
4. Your favorite fictional character is suddenly your room-mate! Who is it and how well do you handle this?
Rincewind the Wizard. We get on fine, but I think his Luggage wants to eat me.
5. What's your favorite guilty pleasure (food or indulgent)?
Double Deckers
6. Have you ever wished to travel the stars, what planet/area do you wish to see?
Utterly, but the planets we know, other than ours, are hardly places to raise a family. The idea of world hopping in the style of "The Long Earth" by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter, however, is immensely attractive: to take my family to an unspoilt world and work as part of a community to create a new model of harmonious living.
7. You can undo one major event in your life, but it drastically alters the present, do you do it?
No. I have many regrets, but all of them have led to a place better than I could ever have hoped for.
8. A stranger offers you a magical pair of pants that are horrendously, god-awfully ugly, but give you 10$ in their pocket daily, do you still wear them?
I'd make my children wear them.
9. Would you rather have a world of science or a world of magic?
Science, any day. Magic is terrifying in its randomness.
10. What exactly is the function of a rubber duck?
Doris the Duck is the mystical guardian of bath-time.
I'll not tag anyone else, because I love you too much.

The Busy Life of the Professional Writer
[de-cloaks]
I am, since Horizon Wars was published, enthusiastically working on a range of new games, both miniatures and board type. Some are related to HW, some are entirely new properties. The up-side is that I'm having a great time, albeit not making much money from my efforts, yet. The down-side is that I just don't have time to commit to other creative endeavours. At least one of my projects might involve me having to do art again, but it won't be for quite a while. In the mean time, I drop into dA only once in a very rare while so, in order to keep my in box under control, I'm beginning to unwatch a lot of people.

Horizon Wars is Coming...
Here it is, at last.
Obviously, I'm posting a journal to further pimp the forthcoming release in April of my very first proper miniatures wargame, published by Osprey Games. But actually, there's more to it than just blowing my own trumpet. First, I want to draw people's attention to this gallery in my Favourites. It's been there a long time, with various names down the years, but it was the first place I started to record images and ideas that inspired the development of this game (the other being this Pinterest board).
I wanted to make the game one that would pay tribute to as much of these inspiring works and images as possible. Spec
Random Favourites!?
I don't get this.
First up, let me explain that, if you favourite one of my deviations, I will look, at the very least, at your Favourites to see if we share similar interests. If we do, then I'll check out your gallery and see what you're doing in that field. If I like it, I will follow you.
So once in a while, I'll get notification of a fav and go look at the relevant deviant's Favourites.
It immediately becomes clear that this deviant is watching new deviations go up, real time, and favouriting 99% of everything; because my deviation, posted no more than 30 minutes previously, is already way deep on page 6. Some of the stuff favourit
Watcher of Storms 28mm Wizard FOR SALE
I have to pay some money to HMRC for Class 4 NICs, but I've just blown my reserves on new stuff at Salute 2015, so i'm going to be selling off a few minis of the next few weeks to try to raise the necessary without taking it out of my main resources.

thank you for being such a great sport about this!
It's amazing what you can learn about people from a few questions...and apparently I REALLY need to start reading Terry Pratchet's work!
