I am, since Horizon Wars was published, enthusiastically working on a range of new games, both miniatures and board type.  Some are related to HW, some are entirely new properties.  The up-side is that I'm having a great time, albeit not making much money from my efforts, yet.  The down-side is that I just don't have time to commit to other creative endeavours.  At least one of my projects might involve me having to do art again, but it won't be for quite a while.  In the mean time, I drop into dA only once in a very rare while so, in order to keep my in box under control, I'm beginning to unwatch a lot of people.

This is no reflection on any of those people.  I'm weeding my watch list down to one of two types of person: people I've already collaborated with in the past and people I'd like to collaborate with in the future.  So if I'm watching you and we haven't previously worked together it means that I think your style is likely to be a good match to at least project I have in mind.  If I'm no longer watching you, I still think you're amazing, but I'm probably not going to want to throw money at you (all you wonderful cosplayers and miniatures painters, this means you).

God bless.  Buy Horizon Wars!

Horizon Wars Promo by precinctomega

Here it is, at last.

Obviously, I'm posting a journal to further pimp the forthcoming release in April of my very first proper miniatures wargame, published by Osprey Games.  But actually, there's more to it than just blowing my own trumpet.  First, I want to draw people's attention to this gallery in my Favourites.  It's been there a long time, with various names down the years, but it was the first place I started to record images and ideas that inspired the development of this game (the other being this Pinterest board).

I wanted to make the game one that would pay tribute to as much of these inspiring works and images as possible.  Special mention needs to go to :iconbrotherostavia: and :iconjessada-art:BrotherOstavia was my first choice for artist.  He has been an inspiration since we hung out on the Ordo Illuminatus forums many aeons ago and was immensely generous to let me use his art in the game's first incarnation, MechaWar.  Sadly, a clash of projects meant that we had to go elsewhere, but we were super-fortunate to find some time in Jessada's schedule and he's given us some amazing illustrations.

Horizon Wars, therefore, is very much a project that was gestated in the deviantArt community and its final realization is a testimony to how dA can make a difference not just for big companies and major artists but even for little people like me.

I don't get this.

First up, let me explain that, if you favourite one of my deviations, I will look, at the very least, at your Favourites to see if we share similar interests.  If we do, then I'll check out your gallery and see what you're doing in that field.  If I like it, I will follow you.

So once in a while, I'll get notification of a fav and go look at the relevant deviant's Favourites.

It immediately becomes clear that this deviant is watching new deviations go up, real time, and favouriting 99% of everything; because my deviation, posted no more than 30 minutes previously, is already way deep on page 6.  Some of the stuff favourited before and since is good.  Most of it is bilge.  None of it shares any vague relevance, interest or theme.  These deviants don't seem to be bots of any sort.  Many of them are Core users (i.e. paying customers of dA) and most of them do have some degree of management of their Favourites and Galleries.  So what they heck is going on?  Are people using "Favourite" as a synonym for "Like" in some sort of gesture to give encouragement to everyone making a good effort?

I have to pay some money to HMRC for Class 4 NICs, but I've just blown my reserves on new stuff at Salute 2015, so i'm going to be selling off a few minis of the next few weeks to try to raise the necessary without taking it out of my main resources.

One of my most popular deviations and one of my highest-rated submissions to CoolMiniOrNot, I am selling my 40k Chaos Champion to raise some desperately-needed funds:
